Design for everyone
Will my design work for everyone? Am sure it comes up everywhere & every-time, whether you are a designer or someone involved with getting a new product out to the market.
Will it work? Why will anyone use it? Why? When? How? True that some products have just borne fruit with lot of users which have no sense what so ever. It could be social media or it could be apps , web products. It can be the fast paced Design>Code>Launch mantra & then iteration which refines the product to totally starting a product from scratch all over again. Boy, does all this require patience, intelligent work, timing & lots more guts from what i have learned from the best in the industry by working with them. They most obvious delightful product (at least for the apple lovers) is of the course the iPhone.
The delight of many, the envy of others. How did it manage to work when they are cheaper or existing smartphones/PDAs around? Why didn’t the PDAs work? It can be what i read or i am just stating the obvious, it is the dependency of those services which make it successful?
To state the obvious: There were computers everywhere, we need an interface to face them humanly as possible with metaphors as desktop, folder etc.. Then cam the beautiful types & colors with more clarity in displays. Hence the beautiful iMac to the thin & light macbook airs.
How about music? anywhere, everywhere… anyone loves music & there is plenty of genres (including the new inventions with mixes) … the iPod, a simple function… to state the obvious the shuffle : to listen to when you travel… that is when you really need it.
The new gadgets like Kindle, iPad and various other tablets… they didn’t just generate out of thin air. E-books have been there since long, the only thing missing was mobility.
i can go on & on about stating the obvious.. but solutions are right there… certain value adds make a small feature become more amazing.
